I also liked Sara Storer. You can look at the vido on her website. www.sarastorer.com.au/index.php?page=Albums#The song is Back Out Back. Here are the lyrics: Back Out Back My only cheeky song on the album but I had to have one. I really didn't write this song about anyone in particular but I picked a few little things that amused me about the differences between city and country men. In reality I know that men are all the same no matter where you are from and they never send enough flowers and chocolates. What the am I doing down George street I've been stuck at these lights for a day And I'm sitting here with this fella I've got a feeling that I've gone the wrong way What the you're going to yoga With the girls from where you work at I'm sorry but I've been thinking this over I've gotta get back out back CHORUS Out back where the men drink water When it splashes off the brim of their hats Out back where the boys are sorta On the lean side but muscle packed Out back where dancing is like drivin' It comes natural like two feet flat Well I like 'em like that I've gotta get back out back. What the is that what you call dancing Your so far away I can't see What the you don't like country And you think that Willo's a tree What the is that your driving And it's never been on dirt road tracks I'm sorry I've been thinking this over I've gotta get back out back. Repeat Chorus What the have I been thinking I know where there's a rodeo on Maybe I'll catch up with ya later I've gotta get back where I'm from Repeat Chorus

Ah, Kathy - sounds like we have similar tastes in music. I finally had the chance to see both Merle Haggard and George Jones in separate concerts - wonderful even now.
As for George Strait, wow. Hubba hubba. :-) How did you like his movie? That smiiiiile.

Am having a listen at the Sara Storer website - thanks - listening on a slow connection so it's a bit frustrating. When I first heard a line sung from "Back Out Back" my thought was "a country Kristy MacColl (gosh am I getting her name right?) - Kirsty, maybe. I was introduced to her by a Brit friend a couple years before her (the singer's) tragic death while on holiday. I really like her music. Been ages since I listened to her stuff - must do so soon.

Sara Storer has a nice voice that I like listening to. I bought one of her CDs and unfortunately Back Out Back is not on it. I listened to it today for about 3 hours on my shopping trip. Mine CD is called Chasing Buffalo and is on the bottom of the page, with the video of Buffalo Bill which is a nice song.

I grew up with country music. Every Saturday night we watched the Porter Waggoner show, The Grand Ole Opry and Hee Haw. I rebelled for a while, but it's pretty much all I listen to now. My uncle made a statement that new country is a lot like old rock and roll, and I think he is right to some degree.
I love, love, love Alan Jackson - he is my favorite. I like Trace Adkins, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Trisha Yearwood, Marty Stuart, Brad Paisley. Although, I am not sure how to take his latest song "Alcohol".
As for Bluegrass I like some of it. I love Allison Krause and Union Station. My aunt and uncle play Bluegrass Gospel, so I have to like it.

I remember those shows too.....lol I even remember when my daddy listened to the Grand Ole Opry on the radio.
Alan Jackson seems to be such a laid back easy going kinda fella. I think Trisha has a classic pure sounding voice. I like Toby's in your face right back atcha attitude. Martina is ok, she definitely has a set of lungs! Not big on the party animal types in country music.

I would LOVE to re-watch some of the old Hee Haw programs. I have a few downloaded versions of the quartet's gospel songs, and will at some point buy the CD. Love that traditional sound with gospel music.
I played the songs on Christmas Day for my stepson and stepdaughter. He likes "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" (soundtrack) and this was the closest music I probably have to that, without digging through a lot of files. I do like Alison Krauss as well, but some songs are absolute faves while the rest are good but not perhaps to his liking.
The stepdaughter really liked the Hee Haw stuff, which surprised me!

I enjoy country music once in a while. I guess my favorites would be, Faith Hill, Tim Mc Graw, Toby Keith, LeaAnn Womack, Chad Brock, ALan Jackson, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jimmy Buffet, Tanya Tucker, etc... I guess I like more than I though huh? LOL Oh yes the old country television programs. Daddy use to make us watch them too, I also remember listening to a radio program on Saturday nights but can't for the life of me remember who it was.

What about Ralph Emery? Is he still around, doing variety shows and such with CMT? Man, he's been around forever.
My mom used to love watching the line dancing programs on CMT, when it first came out, when it was ALL music videos or music programs.
Of course I can also remember when MTV was all about music! ;-)
