Ok are there any fans out there besides me? I admit it I am a "closet" fan of traditional Irish and Scottish music. I would love to learn to dance to it too. (traditional dances I mean) Anybody else?

I like the music and think the dances are awesome. However, I have no desire to learn, which for me having two left feet would entail a bump on my backside. LOL

Love the music and I think the dancing looks like such great exercise! Those folks stay in shape!

In our hometown they had Balmoral School of Highland Dancing or something like that. My daughter 9 would have loved it. Lately I have been very tempted to buy her an Irish dancing costume I saw in an ebay shop. Maybe for a special birthday or Christmas present.
They also taught bagpipes and snare drum for free in our hometown and my middle step-son learnt.

Very pretty BR!
Does anyone have any other kinds of folk music they like? Other countries maybe?

Now that you mention it. Our eldest two daughters learnt ballet. At their last ballet school in 2004 they learnt traditional dancing as part of their curriculum. They were learning RAD ballet which is Russian so they learn traditional dancing with that. They had a character skirt, black with ribbons around the bottom and wore it over their leotard and also used props to dance with. They had black shoes as well to dance in.

This is what a character skirt looks like: www.littleballerina.co.uk/Last year they danced in the local dance classes and used their character skirts as part of the can can costume.
