I saw my first episode of Outrageous Wasters today. You must understand the ads for these shows are very dramatic and for me it takes awhile to watch them. This particular episode was excellent. www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/programmes/outrageous_wasters/episode4.shtmlThe couple even left the place after one night! The first time I had seen that. The ending was fantastic. Food miles don't bother me usually. There is one time that it bothers me a lot. I go to the Hume Freeway sometimes to the bus stop in NSW, and I guarantee there is a truck with a Safe*ay written on the side going by every few minutes. Then it bothers me. I'd say it is because I lived by a freeway for 16 or so years and hadn't seen anything like that before. Of course, there may be a perfectly good explanation.

The second one I saw wasn't as good in some ways, very entertaining though, the family were interesting. I love how the women who are over 40 find themselves or their younger spirit after being in the bush. They find who they were or find themselves. Hard to explain what I mean. I was interested in the fact that there is not a water shortage in Scotland where they lived but they still had to have 3 minute showers. www.lifestylechannel.com.au/shows/show.asp?id=383&tab=episodes&episode_id=289009

I think one of the things that influenced and changed these two women was when they returned home and were set a challenge. They both had to host an event and had to buy food for it. One went to a meat store, the other fruit I think. Both were surprised that the places they went to had nice people owning them and I think they were surprised there was such a market for their goods etc. I think they didn't realise how mainstream these are now.
I am not explaining well, but their idea of mainstream shifted?

It's so common for people to rush from one thing to the next without thinking too much about what they're doing. They develop habits along the way, and just stay in that pattern of behaviour until something out of the ordinary pushes them to try something new. We are creatures of habit, as my neighbour always reminds me.
Back to topic, the show sounds terrific. I'm assuming it's not on free-to-air? If not, I hope they repeat it there at some point.
