My dd is 16 and rarely reads a book anymore (except the past week out of sheer summer boredom, lol). I've been wondering if the younger generations will simply give up on books altogether and spend all their time with the tv, video games, and computers. Will they miss out on the pleasure of curling up with a good book on a cold or rainy day? Will they not use their imaginations as much as those of us who read books? Any thoughts on this?

I certainly hope this is not the wave of the future...it would be tragic....My dh does not like to read, in fact I always tease him about having a panic attack when he goes in the library or a book store...I can't fathom not liking to read or liking books, I guess it was how he was brought up...I was always read to and encouraged to read on my own!!!!

I hope not!!!! 2 of our 3 like to read. The other one would rather be playing baseball. We grew up without TV in our home and books were bought and reading was greatly encouraged. The kids will sometimes tease me when they see me stirring a pot on the stove with a book in my hand. lol
My dh doesn't like to read either.......
