Let's name our favorite Christmas books. I love the old standby, "twas the night before christmas. I also like to read a Christmas mystery that Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter write evry year. What are some of your faves?

I like any books based around the Christmases experienced by Laura Ingalls Wilder. There is a picture book and probably a reader, it is too late to go check, at night I mean. I also like picking out the chapters from Little House In The Big Woods, Little House On The Prairie, The Long Winter, By The Shores Of Silver Lake and On The Banks Of Plum Creek.
The one in Little House On The Prairie has Mr. Edwards seeing Santa in Independence, Kansas. There is an illustration of Santa with a horse or mule loaded up with presents. Mr. Edwards swam a flooded creek and came with a new tin mug for the girls as they used to share one.

Here is one I found today, I would love to know if anyone has read it.
My Prairie Christmas: Brett Harvey (Hardcover, 1990)
It has a picture of a girl in the snow on the cover.

My favorite Christmas story has always been the one of baby Jesus...ya know, that awesome story found in the New Testament! I'm a country girl, and I always enjoyed thinking about the animals and a baby being born in the manger. Guess that's the simple truth of it, the most beautiful Christmas story is the one in the bible of baby Jesus!!!

I bought a magazine yesterday and it had a feature on how three Australian families spent Christmas. One family was from Germany originally, one from France, and one Jewish family, maybe from Hungary. The photos were beautiful and I think two had lovely wooden animals and nativity. They even moved the wise men closer each day to symbolise their journey. It was the Family Circle.
