"Plain Truth" by Jodi Picoult?? I really enjoyed her book, "My Sister's Keeper" but not "The Pact" or "The Tenth Circle", and wonder what this one's like. It's something to do with the Amish.

Yes, I have it on loan from the library now. Unfortunately I saw the "Lifetime" tv movie of the same book, so reading it afterwards isn't as nice.
Basically it's about a woman lawyer who gives up her high-powered job in search of a quieter, more rewarding life. She ends up going to an Amish community to defend an Amish teenage girl who gave birth and is accused of killing her newborn.

Mv, have you read "Vanishing Acts" by her? That was really good, I thought. My sil read "My Sister's Keeper", and she kind of ruined it for me. It might be a little too emotional of a read for me anyway.

"My Sister's Keeper" is a three-tissue-box job, it twists and tears at your heart with each chapter. Definitely not one to read if you are feeling anxious about your kids, either.
I'll check at the library for "Vanishing Acts", thanks Michelle. I've got "Plain Truth" on order now, after reading your info, and I haven't seen a movie of it so it should be good!
