Seuss, definitely. The play on words and the made-up words always got the neice and nephew to giggling. Also, it's impossible to not sound a bit silly reading them aloud, so it helps some of us (ahem) to loosen up a bit.

After I saw the wasabi paste, I thought maybe I could make some green eggs and ham, the family didn't really share my dry sense of humor.

Is your Mama a Llama? Sheep in a Jeep Green eggs and ham (and other seuss books) Wake up Mr. B
I loved the Gingerbreadman and Pokey Little Puppy when I was little. I had a large collection of Golden books as a kid. (not sure who published them, but they had "gold" spines and said "a Little Golden Book" on the front cover.

I read the books my daughter aged 8 brought home from the library today and they are all great. Possum Magic by Mem Fox Peek and Pat Hiding on the Farm (Silver Dolphin) (www.advantagebooksonline.com) Buffy by Bob Graham My favorite was Possum Magic. We have the cookbook that matches it. www.memfox.com/possum-magic.html She also had a great one last week about a girl's orange hair. Will have to ask her the name again.
