On the bestseller list on the book website violet gave me the link to, was Destitute Gourmet. Anyone heard of it? They have a website as well. www.destitutegourmet.com/recipes.htmAlso: Destitute Gourmet: More Stunning Food from Small Change I think it is published in New Zealand. I expect the kiwis know alot about saving money.

Last month, on another website, there was talk of these books and I ended up selling mine to a lady who wanted one. There were some lovely ideas, but nothing that you probably don't already have. Also the meals were so small - she only had little kids when she wrote the one I bought. They were the sort of meals you'd cook when there were only the two of you at home, not to feed a family.
A friend borrowed the book and came to the same conclusion, too, and she only has two kids. Neither of us felt the food was particularly cheap, either. Just the sort of stuff we probably cook now. For example she made "chili bricks" for a dinner meal - a big dollop of chili inside a hollowed out small roll. My kids would enjoy that, but for a snack, or maybe lunch.
Perhaps the other ones in the series were better value. I can't remember the title of mine, but it was the second or third in the series.
Sorry to be negative, but that's what I found.

After reading the section with the recipes I came to the same conclusion.
