On Australia Day 1966, the three children of the Beaumont family went together to the beach. They were to have been home by lunch, but never appeared. Their disappearance has remained unsolved all these decades later. If you'd like to know more about this sad case, there's a website about them: www.beaumontchildren.com/There is also a book, called Searching for the Beaumont Children: Australia's Most Famous Unsolved Mystery, Alan Whiticker, which has recently been lent to me. I have to say he's not the most engaging writer, but it is interesting to have all the facts in one place. I'm told that the police believe that they will not know who the killer is unless he makes a deathbed confession. It is impossible to comprehend what the parents have gone through for the past 40 years. I haven't read much, so perhaps that will be addressed further in the book.
