There's a series of books that dd 16 has enjoyed in the past. Recently I stumbled across a couple at the library. They are from later in the series, and are positively horrible. The series has taken a nasty turn, and the main character has some horrific problems, and experiences. The lesson here? Flip through every book before checking it out, even the same author can change tack dramatically.
