I borrowed "Strong Women Stay Young" by Miriam Nelson from the library a while back, but realised that to follow the weight-training program she suggests I'd need to own it. On www.fishpond.com.au last week, I found the small paperback version for just over $14 and decided to buy it. We have some weights here, which the boys use, so I can do this for the price of the ankle weights only. Weight training interests me as I have a problem with one knee, and must walk to keep the muscles around it strong to support it. Weight training could help further, also of course as women age our bone density can become a problem. I find that the more active I am, the more energy I have, too. There's much more to this book than the weight program; it's an interesting read about women's health and fitness.

How wonderful that you found the book and that it will be coming soon.
I have found my knees are the best they have been since I had the kids. I think walking up hills did it, not sure. Although in the last weeks I haven't been doing that as much. It is nice to have healthy knees.

Got another one that I like even better: Running and Walking for Women Over 40: The Road to Sanity and Vanity by Katherine Switzer.
