Has anyone every bought a package of the pre cut paterns for making a quilt block?
Our Wal*Mart has them and seem to sell alot. They stock several patterns, and just wondered if anyone ever used this method of putting a quilt together?

I have never done this but my mom did once and she didn't bother to remeasure them. The package said they were all 5" square and she just believed it but found out differently when she went to put her long strips of blocks together. Not a one matched up and by then she was so disgusted she just sewed them all together as is and has never made another quilt. Mom has all the tools to cut her own but didn't want to. IMO it is easier and cheaper to cut your own for a quilt from scratch. Now if you mean like a BOM (block of the month type one) I have never done one of those, but just to be sure the pieces measure correctly, I would remeasure them before sewing together. HTH

Nope, never have. Deed, I'm alot like your mom and would have just sewed them all together ;D I much prefer using my own material and cut my own (although they never measure up correctly either ;D)

Thanks for the info girls. Wally's has several really cut ones and I was thinking it would be easy to sew the precut pieces together and have a block. LOL.
