The photo of the winning vegetable was published in March BBC Good Food Magazine which I bought yesterday in Australia.
"A parsnip grown by Mrs. Hilary Nellist in Bedford was the winner of the National Trust's first Ugliest Veg competition, designed to show that you can't judge a vegetable by its looks. Mrs Nellist's parsnip may have looked like a creature from the abyss, but apparently it tasted fantastic!"
It had six long legs and a smaller piece in the photo.
