I finally finished this for my mom as hers is falling apart. I made the exterior fabric, it is called crazy quilting, although I didn't use batting and quilt it. I used heavy interfacing in it. Lined it and put a pleated pocket on the inside for her cell phone. Finally all fixed for you gals, sorry about that.

Wow! That turned out great! How do you do the lining? Do you just make another bag and tuck it inside, wrong sides together and stitch it together around the top with the straps between the layers? (that's a really long sentence......)

LOL Karen, thank you. And to answer your really long sentence.....................YEP! ;D Although to make it easier and so the straps don't move while sewing, I baste them to the outer one first. Sew around the very edge, then again about 3/8 to 1/2 inch away from the first row of stitching, then remove the basting.
