The animals are eating my garden down. The only thing they haven't touched are the peppers and tomatoes. There is a fence around my garden but they are getting through the gate and tunneling under the fence. I bought some pepper spray but it was quite pricey. I know I saw a recipe somewhere for some home made spray. Does anyone have this? Does it work?
TIA Marcia

Marcia~
Here are two I located for you. Hope it helps.
this is a very cheap and easy way to make pepper spray
equipment
chilli powder vinegar lemon juice pair of tights jug a spray bottle
and any other stuff that will sting your eyes
take the jug and fill it up with vinegar and add chilli powder and lemon juice and mix it then put it in a pan and boil it. this will take the water out the vinager and the lemon juice and will make it stronger then put 1 of the tights over the jug and pour the liquid in the pan onto the tights and this will take out all the thick pits that will clog up the spray and it will stop working the pour it into the spray bottle and leave it to stand 4 24 hours untill you use it make sure be4 you pour it though the tights you leave it for about an hour and keep stiring it every 15 mins this will give it the best affect
A simple animal control pepper spray (to spray in the garden) consists of a solution 50/50 of ammonia and tabasco. You mix the ingredients then pour into a squeeze bottle. Do not use a spray bottle as the tabasco sauce would clog. The best sort of squeeze bottle I've found has a slightly oval shape to it.

Thanks Carolyn. Will this keep the outside cats away from my veggie garden? AND Where do you spray it? On the plants, around each plant, or around the perimeter of the garden itself? TIA

The stuff I bought said to spray it on the plant until wet.

Yes Deed, it will keep the cats away. Of course you have to respray after rain.
I also wanted to post that you should save your hair when you get it cut, and spread that around your garden and plants. Human hair keeps many animals away, especially rabbits..

I tried the first one. I must have done something wrong, it burnt/killed all the leaves on my plants. They still seem to be doing okay though.
