Here is my dream come true...We got a new car. Dh said to get *what I wanted*..so I did. LOL. I have always wanted a red car..so this is my new 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, Victory Red...complete with sunroof (always wanted a convert..can't afford that) and also has a sound package that consists of a cd player with 6 speakers, and an mp3 player..Woo hoo I am loving it and feel like the little old lady from Pasadena ...Go Granny....driving it around. I am being a teenager again for a few weeks..lol..Then when the first payment is due it will be back to reality. Rejoice with me.

After driving a slow van for years, it has killed the sports car thing for me, I hope I get that feeling back lol.
It is very nice, I find I am looking at the background, so American, reminds me of photos of NY state.
I have a red car too, except it is a SUV with bullbars etc. that we have to have here in case of kangaroos jumping over the road. I am a country girl now! At least it has a bit more power than the van and I am enjoying that.
I still am learning about MPVs from the boys, I know CD players are great. How is your music collection going? I know we had little for ours, maybe you already have some.
Before the van we had a Monaro, I sports car from the 70s, we really enjoyed having that. There was not enough room for the kids.

Go granny go granny go granny go! Go granny go granny go granny go! Go granny go granny go granny go! Go granny go granny go granny go!
Congrats on the new car, Carolyn! I went car-less (kinda) for 2 years and 2 months and 4 days (but who's counting?) when I moved to NZ - I did use Alister's car regularly when I was working way out of town but once I was working a ten minute drive from home, and working 24 hour shifts, it didn't make sense to deprive him of his car so that I could drive 10 minutes, park for 24hrs and drive 10 minutes back home. I started using the bus system again for those times when it wasn't convenient for him to pick me up on his way home.
But, when I finally decided it was time to get a car, I had to have it YESTERDAY, and I bought a 1997 Honda Integra - sorta a compromise between sporty (for me) and practical (Alister the Accountant). Silver, two doors, not nearly as much vroom as my past cars (Camaros, trans Ams, things like that) but then I drive differently here in NZ - lots of city driving.
I had two cars with sunroof or t-tops and loved 'em. Hot in summer, though, with the sun shining right onto your head! Wonderful in winter, heater on. :-)
Have fun, fun, fun til your daddy takes the (tbird) away!

LOL oh Beth, your a hoot and so sweet. Thanks for the notice to have fun. You bet I will. We had the top open yesterday on our way home from church. Regarding the hot feeling with the sun beating on your head. We have a cover inside that pulls over the actual window..so from the inside it looks just like the carpeted roof..(kwim). I did notice with the window shut and not pulling the door over it that it was hot. Gotta try it in winter with heater on. Woo hoo.
You do get use to the vrrrooommm don't cha?

Kia ora, Carolyn,
I'm sitting here freezing my bejeezers off (wherever they are, they're freezing). Tell me again how hot it is with the sun (I'm beginning to forget what the sun looks like) shining onto your head.
As for 'windows' to cover the sunroof - we didn't have such fancy thingamajigs when MY car went topless. One was a 1976 Camaro with t-tops (not original, someone had put them in) and the other was a 1985 Toyota MR2. It was always neat riding in the Camaro in heavy rain, tops off (until you came to a stop!) as the rain just went right over the car (well, the back seat would get a teensy bit wet) and the looks from other drivers was awesome.
Next time that teenaged boy revs up beside you, leave him in your dust!
And yeah. I miss the vrrrroooom. I had a V8 (the camaro) then the teensy tiny MR2 and a 6cyl Grand Prix which was the 'nicest' of the three but ended up being a huge headache. I went back to my V8s - a 1985 Trans Am and then a 1977 Trans Am.

Kiaora I only know as a cordial, is it a greeting as well? Please forgive my constant questions.

Beth~ I can picture your vvvrrrrooommming around town. I feel the need for speed most of the time and at times it has gotten me a ticket or two. LOL. We had a wonderful 1972 Chevelle Malibu that was such a hot and fast car. Dh finally sold it and said it did it *before I killed myself in it* ...
BR, you feel free to ask all the questions you wish. I ask lots of questions of you trying to learn about Australia..

Carolyn - only a ticket or TWO?! You baby! Get out there and get some REAL tickets, woman! LOL Boy, I've had a few, but I've also had QUITE a few verbal warnings - some perhaps because I was caught while wearing my prison uniform as there was a loooooong stretch of highway between me and the prison. Lots more times when I should have gotten a ticket. Basically, in the US, if I was in a car, I was speeding.
I don't speed as often here because most of my driving is in the city.
