Hello - apologies if I am not on here more regularly. I have just started a Certificate in Organic Horticulture by distance education, so will often be either studying or in the garden! I have been reading a lot about permaculture and biodynamics. Permaculture is a way of gardening that looks at the whole garden (or farm) as a self-contained system, with the inputs and outputs recycled, and all elements (ie. tree, cow, vegetable) have more than one use - like a cow produces milk, and its manure enriches the soil. A fruit or nut tree could have at least 7 uses - can you list them? ;D there's a test for you! Biodynamics uses similar principles as permaculture but also uses what many people would think are some wierd methods: like planting with the moon and stars, and using herbal and mineral mixes in the soil. There's some good info on permaculture on these sites: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture (loads of links at the end of that article) attra.ncat.org/attra-pub/perma.htmland this site has a great e-book (Essence of Permaculture): www.holmgren.com.au/
