This is a recipe from a friend of my mom's. She has written on the top "Delicious" so I guess it must be. LOL Mom made it all the time when I was growing up and most everyone in our family liked it. I can't eat it because it is too spicey for me, but I make it and haven't had any complaints. ;D
Apple Butter
2 quarts fresh cider 4 quarts peeled and sliced apples 3 cups sugar 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. allspice 1 tsp. cinnamon
Boil cider untill it cooks down to 1 quart, add apples and cook until they are real mushy. Add sugar and spices and cook some more.
To test for doneness, put some on a saucer, when just a small trickle of juice is running from butter, it is done. Takes approximately 2-4 hours total cooking time.
Hot Pack
Yeild 7-8 ounce jelly jars
Do Not Burn!
