I got a pretty "Scenes From Iowa" calandar at the bank today. It made me think it would be fun to swap those freebie calendars everyone is giving away this time of year. Do they hand out free calendars in Oz as well? I think it would be cool to have one from down under. I'd be willing to swap one of these Iowa ones! (I hope the drugstore doesn't do Normn Rockwell AGAIN! Farm Service had really nice ones last year with nice big boxes to write stuff on the days.)
Anyone in?

I meant to tell you the other day Karen, my Mum has a friend who lived in Iowa as a child, I do get my I states mixed up but think that is the one. He said to her the other day how it snowed for months. So it was interesting that you said you get frustrated with the snow and melt cycle you have been having.
My Grandma always had free calendars hanging up in her kitchen. I usually get free ones, although for the last few years I got one with my bought Christmas hampers so haven't picked up too many free ones. Last year though I was in a store here and they gave me one for my husband. We live in a farm district and are pretty traditional here. I think I also saw one at the supermarket/grocery last year as well, it was our first Christmas here. I know it had country scenes, landscapes. The other one had old farm pictures with horses and hay and things, then a small picture of the modern way of doing it. It is interesting.
I love the big boxes ones, and would love to see Iowa to see where my friend lived when he was little. He calls me Maam (sp?) I have known him all my life.
I will have a look around and see if they have them in the shops now, so yes, I would swap.

I'm sorry BR. I started typing a reply at least twice, but the munchkins wouldn't let me finish.
We used to get a lot more snow here than we have been the last few years. Even when Blake was little we went sledding and stuff. I don't know...... It still gets good and cold, like -20ºF (that's suppose to be a negative number) for a week or two in January.
The caledar I was talking about has beautiful pics, but the boxes aren't very big. I can check and see what FS has.
It'll be fun to see pics of cooler weather during those hot summer months!
Oh! I got mt Christmas Card list from Ellise today and both of our addresses are on it!
Did anyone else whant to play musical calendars to Dhristmas songs?

Karen the calendars are lovely. Today is hot it is 89oF inside, and you are right seeing snow on the calendars is amazing.
They are so pretty. So "me" as well. I will still look around town for some more for you. My husband and I have some time tomorrow and Friday.
Thanks again.

I'm glad you like them! I thought the Scenes From Iowa one had outstanding photos. The old west one is attractive as well (imo). Don't you have some decor in those colors?

Karen, for the first time in years I've ended up with a very Australian calendar - actually, two of them - from one of dh's clients. It's from Devondale, who produce milk, cheese, etc., and has a photograph of rural Australia for each month. They also have a recipe each month. If you'd like it to add to your collection, please pm me your address and I can mail it next week.

Karen, my Mum looked around for me for some calendars, so I have some that together might be interesting. Will try to get them in the mail soon. Also we picked up the one from the tractor shop.
