The girls generously donated two old CDs for bird scarers today, as we had another sunflower in a different place eaten. We are trying to save the sunflower seeds as you cannot buy them in Australia, well probably not all of them and they are so pretty.

Today I was reading the magazine MV recommended to me. It had sprouts in jars, I have those jars, so that is a good start, they are kilner jars. One sprout was sunflower sprouts, I get very excited by sunflower seeds these days as we have some out in the garden. They are supposedly nearly a complete food when sprouted. Here are some sunflower sprout recipes as well: www.herbsarespecial.com.au/free-sprout-information/sunflower.htmlI am not going to eat my special colored sunflower seeds. They are interesting, very small.

Br, I clicked on the first link and oh what a lovely site, and the song playing, well I just let it play.
Heather, I sang that song to my dd's as well. :-) Love it.
Aren't sunflowers the most amazing things. Dh plants them each year. I always wait with such anticipation for them to flower. I love the new perennial ones that are small also.

Maybe you mean sunroots? "Tangy Cheese and Sunflower Seed Cake You need: 100 grams butter 250 grams Philadelphia cream cheese 2 eggs 1 lemon, juice and zest 1 cup S.R. Flour 1/2 cup sunflower seeds or chopped nuts 1 cup sugar Filling 250 grams Philadelphia cream cheese 1 pack strawberries 1 cup icing sugar squeeze of lemon juice Method: Cream sugar, butter and cream cheese. Beat in one egg, 1/2 the flour and other egg and remaining flour. Add lemon juice and zest and sunflower seeds. This should make a soft batter. Pour the batter into a greased ring tin, bake in a 150 degrees celcius oven for 1 hour. Cool briefly in the tin, turn out and cool thoroughly. Whip second cream cheese with icing sugar and lemon juice. Put the ring cake onto a serving plate; pile the cream cheese filling into the centre and top with hulled strawberries."
