I just came across this site A Modern Herbal this morning. Looks like a good one!

Dee, will you or do you already use herbals? Mother has been since her BC and seems to be doing quite well now that she is eleminating all the toxins from her system, and eating more organics.

Oh how I wish I could Ellise! When all my treatments were over with a year and a half ago, they put me on Tamoxifen. With this drug, which I have to be on for 3½ more years, you can not take anything herbal as it stops the drug from working. Stinks I can tell you, as it also magnifies the hot flashes! This is in my layman's terms, LOL If I have it wrong maybe Denise or Karen can explain it better. I have positive hormone receptors, means that my cells absorb estrogen, which they feel is what causes, or is one cause, of breast cancer. Now after going through surgery, chemo and then radiation, we of course don't want it to come back. So they put me on Tamoxifen for 5 years. What this drug does is sort of form a barrier around my cells so the estrogen can't get in. I am premenopausal even though I had a hysterectomy prior to having BC, they left me an ovary. This was so I wouldn't have to go on HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and get BC. Um, I think it didn't work! I have had hot flashes for years since, but nothing I couldn't handle until I went on Tamoxifen. Although my blood work still says I am premenopausal, the drug is telling my body I am into full blown menopause! It also enhances the hot flashes on top of that, so these babies are quite unbearable. When one hits, I can't breathe or even think most times. I take 150 mg of Effexor to help, and it is better than without taking anything. But they are still very bad, especially now in the hot weather. So no, I can't take any herbal anything until I am off Tamoxifen. Like I said, it stinks, but with all the side effects, it is still better than getting the cancer back. Glad to hear that they are working for your mom.

I am sure my herb book has the same name as that site. It is a book I got as a teen and I loved it. Especially the southern mint julep, although I don't think I made it. I still have the book somewhere. I am sure I was trying to search for it the other day.
Anyone tried raspberry vinegar?
