Ok gals , I have showed you some of what we have done, but one thing I worked on myself and am quite proud of is the following project. Years ago, probably early fifties maybe a tad earlier, women had what they called cornice boards over their window tops ....My mom had them and I hated them..LOL OK, fast forward. This house had them at one time and they were treasures found in the basement. Dh managed to salvage two of them. Lori is using her's in her girlies playroom and will display Lori's old toys from her childhood on hers. Here is what I did with mine. It is in the computer room over the window. I have been collecting old antique hardware for years so I put it all to use. Some of it was my dad's, grandad's, some of it came from sales and some of it is from this very house. What do you think?

In Australia we call them pelmets I think. I had them in a house made in 1965. One daughter had a couple of toys on hers.
I think I would love your pelmet, because I love those antique things. Love the wall colour as well.

I love it! You are brilliant! I remember cornice boards and I think you've turned yours into a stunning piece of wall art. So smart you are!
Love love love the wall color and the window treatment is beautiful. Did you make it?
I'm loving these pics...keep 'em coming! Can't wait to see what you've done next!

Lynn, Brilliant, I think not, imaginative maybe..LOL I think constantly on how to decorate, how to reuse things..etc. The wall colour was here. It is the colour I want only a couple shades lighter. It is too dark. So I will lighten it a couple shades. I think the colour I chose is called Bubble Tea, it is almost like a light tea dye linen. So not quite as dark. No Mr. JCPenney made the window valance, and Deed is making a short cafe, sheer for the bottom to let light filter in but block the sun. This computer room is HOT and without central AC, well lets just say if I ever knew for certain I didn't want to go to Hell it is now...LOL I thought that sheers would help with coolness..even if it is only in my mind. I bet next year we have central AC.

Oh thanks Jayne. Do get him to make you some? Imagine the ideas you could decorate them. As I said above my mother had them in the 50's and I thought they were ugly. LOL. If she were still here she would probably remember that I laughed at them or tell me to take that ugly cornice board down.
I love mine and each time I look at it I am reminded of generations gone by, of relatives and special flea market hunts and of this home where some of it was just tossed in the basement.
A treasure indeed. If you get one, be sure to picture it and let us see.
