I have been talking about this cupboard. It is painted with that old fake wood paint (Estapol?) from many years ago, has laminex still in good condition. I replaced it.
Now I am thinking we could take it apart and use the top and bottom separately. There seems to be good *****s and it is meant to be taken apart if needed, which I was surprised about.
It will have to be painted. We will see if we can do this rather than buy new furniture.
