Wasn't quite sure how to headline this! Last night my eldest ds caught up by phone with his friend Will, who is currently in England. Although he's not my son, he's a terrific young man, and I'm just so proud of him that I decided to brag a bit -
Will lives around the corner from us. He's the middle child, his parents divorced when he was quite young, and a couple of years ago his father remarried. Dad is obviously a great parent, and the kids have lived with him full-time since the divorce.
Will worked hard and did extremely well at school, went off to university and did well there as well as working part time in a responsible position. He finished his degree at the end of last year, and took his savings, sold his car and went to travel around the world. Before he left he'd managed to secure a job, starting in 6 months, with a HUGE accounting firm. He convinced them to let him start the job in London.
So, he's now 21, working and living somewhere nice in London (but cheap - he's a great bargain hunter!) and earning Australian $50,000 a year in his first full-time job! He's worked very hard for this, and made clever choices, and now he's got the world at his feet and I'm so thrilled for him!!

Apparently it is quite achieveable these days to do that, ie that kind of money. I wonder what it is in US dollars?
There is an article dh presented me to read yesterday when I woke up in the Age about accountants. I will see what page it is on.

That is a very nice starting salary, and you should be proud of him

Well, an update on Will. He's now been offered a three year contract to stay on working with KPMG in London - what a fantastic opportunity!! More money, more experience, more travel - it's great.
He's invited ds to come and visit at the end of the year, which he may do. It's a big trip, but I suppose this is the best time of life to do it. Anyhow it's up to him. Will called him the other night to tell ds of the work offer - he was going to Spain the next morning for a quick trip!

WTG Will! You are right V, now is the best time for your son to take advantage and get to travel and see other places. Hope he can go.
