What gorgeous butterflies! When the children were young, we found a found a chrysalis on a twig by the front door..it was a vivid jade color with shiny gold (not kidding!) dots swirling around the sack in a single line...it opened into a beautiful butterfly a few days later but the chrysalis turned to dull, muddy colors...I guess the butterfly took all of the beauty from it!

Yes, from memory I think you can see the butterfly through it. I didn't look closely this time, but that is what happened I think two years ago. I have a photo of it somewhere. This is the plant they were eating. Notice the dates where the same week. I saw a magazine and they had a caterpillar in this month, a Monach one.

BR the Chrysalis is beautiful! I have not seen one like it before. I always happen upon them after the butterfly has left. Looking closely at your picture...it is the butterfly you can see through it! Thanks for sharing!

We have a different one outside, everyone is wondering what kind of butterfly it is going to hatch into.
