Hi all,
I haven’t been around here much lately as I have had to deal with a major problem with our flat (apartment) sale here in the UK. Our building is owned by a management company and in January they sent us an estimate of the cost for “Major Works” to the building which was a few thousand ££ (so we reduced the sale price of our flat for nearly half that amount), then in early March they sent us another estimate for replacement windows for another few thousand ££ - so I have been going back and forth arguing with them, making complaints, getting advice from citizens advice, solicitors, leasehold advisory service, estate agents, and getting NOWHERE…………. The thing is, our flat doesn’t NEED new windows (as they are already double-glazed) BUT we have to pay a share of the cost of the replacement windows for the OTHER flats – CRAZY! The costs are ridiculous even if we were getting windows done, but they don't go down much if they aren't as we are paying our "proportion" for the building. The buyers have asked us to pay it as they cannot afford it and would have to drop the sale…. SO we have to pay it if we want to get out of here!!!!
So we are paying it and LEAVING …….. GOODBYE! And good riddance to the greedy, selfish, management company!
