Dh is mad at me big time. Amanda was supposed to have an eye doctor's appointment today. DH took of early to take her. The eye doctor had a medical emergency herself, so the appointment was cancelled. He came on home. I went to get Amanda from preschool, and thought he was going to get Katie. I was going to ask him to stop and get some spaghetti for dinner. When I got home he was in sweats making hamburgers, so no he wasn't going to get Katie. I went to get her and together we went to the store. Before I left he told me to get some milk because the store had it 2/$5.00. I got there and got some apples, bananas, graham crackers (I have to provide snack for Amanda's class Thursday), salad, spaghetti, tp, yogurt, applesauce and a few other things. When we got to the milk case not all the milk had 2/%5.00 signs. We usually get skim, but there wasn't a sign under it. So, I got 2 of the 1%. When I got home DH went off because the milk wasn't the store brand, but the other which was more expensive. Then he yelled about how much I spent. I know I spent too much, but it's not like I bought filet mignon. I got healthy things for the kids to eat. Ugh, now he is sulking and not talking to me.

I remember when my eldest was little, I loved to buy him things for school etc.
Being more further down the track now and more cranky I have stopped buying yoghurt because of the expense, apples for applesauce cost a fortune so we don't have that. Mum makes her own and the jar stuff I guess people only get it here for pork or something. (It makes great ornaments but that is another story.)
Salad, I guess if you didn't want to make your own it is very healthy. But back in 2003 when things we tight, I got great joy doing a menu plan and being able to get the basics for the meals, the cheapest meals etc. I think snacks were the cheapest I could do, we were able to get cheap apples there, but I remember them bringing 2 minute noodles, sometimes a hard boiled egg, but I have forgotten alot of it now.
Like I said, if my eldest was only young then it would be different. I do know that if I could do it again, he wouldn't be given the snacks I bought him, as he is a little more spoilt than the others, but with kids, maybe he is like that anyway personality wise.
I feel for you that dh is not talking though. Try not to be upset.

Yes, Cara is right, I still do those things, and you did what you thought was best at the time.

Hugs Cheryl. Sounds like he was just having a male PMS day. You did what you could and got healthy food for the family. He will just have to get over it.
