I just came back from grocery shopping.....Is it me or have prices gone totally through the roof???...$4.50 for a 5 lb. bag of red potatoes ...I refuse to buy them!!!...I hope the ones we planted grow!!!...I spent $151.00 and I don't feel like I got much...I guess its the high fuel prices driving everything up ...Oh well what are you going to do???

Yes, Jayne! I am seeing the prices going up and up here too. I'm not liking it. Especially since we won't get to have a garden this year because of the move.
There's a farmers market near by that I will be frequenting!

DH does our grocery shopping so I don't know about that. I am just sick over the fact that $15 doesn't even take the tank in my van to half full!

I had to tell dh that I spent $400 this morning. My excuse is that I bought alot of meat. What happened was that I went to another town, which alot of people do here, it was like a different world. I stocked up on all the things we can't buy. I also now have grocery bags for storing my summer clothes in.
Do you still have stickers on the cans etc.? We got rid of those awhile ago. It was very odd at first. We just have the label on the aisle that is all and they use the barcodes to scan the food etc.
The supermarket even had cash out, which is not done here at all, so if you only need a little cash and have less than $20 in the bank on a Sunday, too bad.

$400!...I think I would faint if I spent that much...but since you were stocking up I can understand...we don't have stickers anymore either, so you have to watch to make sure you get the right price...we have the cash back thing too if you are using a check card...Oh and gas prices...don't get me started!!!

Our prices for groceries are alot different to those in the US. Just ask missviolet. We get totally shocked at the small amounts people pay for food. I got even more surprised at the higher prices in New Zealand.
Clothes are cheap in the US as well. We have fun when we go there lol.
It is because we get paid $12 per hour for the basic wage which is higher than the US. Our dollar is also different.
My shopping was for 2 weeks, but there was another $170ish that I got for F&V and bread. I am sure the meat will last longer than 2 weeks though, so yes I was stocking up.
