On another forum, there was link to an article about poverty. Now some of the points made were very sad indeed, but many weren't my idea of poverty.
I think that absolute poverty is being unable to have shelter or food or clean water, but that Western poverty is not having the choice to improve a low standard of living where, for example, there's not enough food or access to health care. A definition I've read states that poverty is being unable to participate in society to the same standard as those around you. That of course makes poverty relative - it depends where you live.
