I'd always heard that it was prudent to keep an amount of cash equivalent to 6 months living expenses in a bank account, such as an online account. We finally did that, but it took 20 years to get to that point.
At our recent meeting with the financial planner, we were told that we should have 2 YEARS expenses in cash. That's a lot of money for a family of five where the youngest is 17.
I wonder how many people actually have that sort of money just sitting in the bank?
