Do you have any sewing collectibles?
I have been looking at tiny toy machines online and in magazines, they are lovely.
One of my favourites is old Sylko cotton reels. Not sure if you have those.
I made a shiny tomato when I learnt to sew. The green wool must have fallen victim to moths, it has to be repaired.
I must have a few buttons. Maybe a thimble. Some vintage curtain material.

I do have some vintage material. I'd love to have some vintage buttons....maybe we could do a swap for that!

Your avatar is beautiful Lynn.
I added your idea to the swap ideas list. Sounds good.

Wooden boxes are fun. Does it open out sideways? Kind of layered?

I deliberately avoid these threads because I love anything to do with old sewing notions/fabrics, and old kitchen stuff. I have hardly anything in that line, mainly because I know once I start that will be the end of me!
Love the old thread reels, Br. I remember those wooden thread reel dolls - when the kids were little I did them from plastic reels; fun, but nothing beats the wooden ones.
My sewing basket is a natural straw 1950's one with a little soft green on it. sigh.

I have myself reined in as well lol. I am lucky dh is a bit of a collector, meaning he had a few interesting needles and tins. He loves saving buttons. He was the one who found the childs machine but I think we threw it out, not sure why.
I can't part with my retro sewing machine. It is so heavy.
Jayne your machine would be lovely and serene to look at. Not sure where my Nana's ended up.

Does anyone remember where you put four s c r e w s into the top of a wooden reel and used a needle of some kind to make ropes from wool. I was given the modern version from the shop as well, it was called Knitting Nancy. www.waynesthisandthat.com/knittingnancys.html

Yes, I have an old sewing basket, my mil's old treadle machine, all her old accessories in the drawers still. :-) We had the machine redone. It is lovely and now sits in Lori's entry way.
In the basket was tons of old wooden spools, etc.
And Lynn, I have alot of old buttons, I would be happy to share with you. I have some that are glass! I would for you to have some. I also have some antique lace.
All this from a girl who would rather not sew. LOL

Today there was a sewing display at the collectables shop. The sewing machine, the toy one, was $45 and the treadle machine around $450. My husband said he didn't think the price for the toy sewing machine was too much.
