Do you have any old tin canisters? Maybe some 60s plastic ones? I just adore them. I have put a pic of one into one of the skins, although I haven't finished the colors yet. I noticed Amazon sold new ones, they are great aren't they? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009XHE7U/103-4424156-5819048I also came across a site about bakerlite. Do you have anything made of bakerlite, a collectible?

I don't have any, BR, but I surely like them, as well.

Wow, they are nice. I like that they've got an airtight seal, too. The old ones look great but aren't practical for storing some things.

Our largest tin ones, which are very large, hold muesli, rice and sugar, large quantities of each.
I do have caster sugar in one plastic one.

I love that one on Amazon! ;D Cara is right, I collect tins and have about 400 or so, but many are reproductions. I do have some antiques. When I get a chance I will take some pics to show you all.

How do you keep your tins from rusting? I have come across many pretty ones but my problem is that they rust. I can't even have metal baking pans because they rust. All my canisters have to be glass or plastic.

I guess they have to be dried very well.

I got a set today nearly the same as the ones we use regularly. I was talking to dh on the phone while I was in the shop, our original ones are aluminium, and when I got home he said the new ones of the same age are tin made by Willow. The old ones are green on the lids, same stickers, the new have pink lids, both are cream on the sides. The aluminium ones are getting rickety, so I guess the tin ones stand the test of time. I guess we don't wash them often, and I use greaseproof paper to line the tins if I ever put biscuits or cookies in them. The stickers are like this: tinyurl.com/3cmh22
