Another practical one here. Last year I asked for a magnolia tree for mothers day. LOL I felt like I hit the jackpot last week though. I was out at my grandparents old farmhouse helping my dad sort thru some of their belongings. He got a box and told me to fill if with anything I wanted! I chose 2 old glass beverage pitchers, an old set of glass tumblers, a china teapot, a pair of silver and crystal salt and pepper shakers, a decorative fruit plate, and some glass dessert dishes. My mother gave me a set of dishes that belonged to her mother and a huge old trunk that belonged to one of her aunts. I am so happy with my "treasures." I love collections passed down thru the generations. What gifts of love and legacy they become. Wonderful treasures you just got, Lynn I laughed about the magnolia tree because I asked for a cherry tree for my birthday last year, and my fil got me one... ;D Then later on in the summer, I bought a weeping cherry tree. I can't wait to see those bloom this year.

I wish I could, Carolyn. I don't have a dig camera....poor, pitiful me. Maybe I should ask for one next go around? Wouldn't that be considered "practical' ??!! LOL

Well yes Lynn, I think a digi camera is very practical, I mean how can you show your treasures which are practical if you don't have a very practical digi cam..LOL. If you can take regular pics and send them to me I can upload them for you.
Oh, Chelle and Lynn, I love getting plants and trees for holidays...!!

You betcha, we wanna see those trees girls. We had the most magnificent magnolia tree in our country home when we first moved to KY. I loved when it bloomed and I loved the pods too. They made great wreaths..

I didn't have a digi cam. actually I still don't. My Mum bought one for ds to take to China, it was a special price because a new store opened up in our hometown. At the moment we use the one from dh's work because he had to know how to use it, or that is his excuse lol. After having the use of one, I think they are quite practical. And photobucket is so easy to use.
It will be exciting to see your tree bloom Michelle. Our ornamental pears are very slow with the flowers, but their autumn foliage has been great, maybe next spring they will flower properly.

Oh yes, Carolyn, I love Buttons! When my church holds their $2.00 a brown bag sale, I often fill my bag with children's clothes that no one wants because they are usually old and not in style--but I check for cute buttons that are usually in great shape. That's how I got my collection increased over the years. Sometimes I find also a woman's peice of clothing with beautiful buttons and I buy it...it usually costs me .50 cents and I get all kinds of pearl buttons, some metal buttons with detailed designs on them... I'll take a pic sometime soon to show you!

In March sometime I saw in a case some inexpensive buttons. They were at a collectables shop. The shop was at the bus stop where my son gets off the bus when he comes to visit!! I think it is a great place for a bus stop lol.
I think I will get some one time when we go there, the girls were interested.

Does anyone collect buttons? I really wish I collected buttons. The other day I needed to replace a button on dh's pants, and I didn't have ANY buttons! Not one! Yes, I do sew and quilt. I was horrified LOL
