I am a SAHM. Have been since Katie was born almost 8 years ago. Before that I was a licensed nursing home administrator and made the bigger income. The past 8 years have been tough, and this past year found us in dire financial straits.
We are working our way through that. In the past month I have had a couple of PT job opportunities come my way. One was PT working for my Sunday School teacher who is a real estate agent. It would have required paid child care for Amanda - and thus negated the benefits of working.
The other was a paid child care job at church. It was good, except that everytime I was going to be at church I would have been working.
After discussing it with DH, we agreed that I would pass on both jobs. DH was adamant that I not take the church job because my SS class has been such a support for me (it is an all ladies class and wonderful!). I would barely have made enough at the other job to cover child care.
So, I was feeling guilty for NOT taking these jobs since we can always use the extra cash. Then it dawned on me that maybe God was trying to see if I was going to trust HIM to make our ends meet.
So long story short is - please pray for God's provision as I embrace being a wife and mom at home and trust Him - not me.

Cheryl, of course you have my prayers. Decisions like that are never easy. There is always such pressure put on women to work, when I believe most of them really want to stay home and care for the children and home. God Bless you in your search! Love U

Beautiful Cheryl! That's how I feel too.....I've done the corporate thing...the money was great, the stress was awful.
God has always provided. We may not always have WHAT we want when we THINK we need it, but He always always comes thru.
You have my prayers, dear friend. Sending you hugs!!

Thank you all so much. Here are some specifics to pray for if you don't mind - we are $25 short on bills until next payday. Katie's birthday is 1/27. We are planning a party at church, and while it is cheap I still the the money to make the cake and such. Please pray God will provide.
Thanks!
