Yesterday I heard a wonderful word from Beth Moore. I have always loved this lady as she explains things in such a way that anyone can understand....
This is some of what she said and it has really touched my heart.
In the passage where Martha invited Jesus into her home.
It says' that Martha was named Martha, but Mary was called Mary. Beth explained that Mary comes from the name Miriam and Miriam comes from Mara, which means bitterness. Beth suggested that possibly something had happened in Marys' life that had caused her to be bitter, thus she was called Mary.
She also said that as Martha went about getting things ready that Mary just sat at Jesus's feet. Possibly Jesus knew that Mary needed to be there to heal and that is just where we need to be when bitterness takes over.
Just call me "Mara".................
In examing myself I have found that root of bitterness that I have allowed to spring up in me.
I am following Beth's advice and just sitting at Jesus's feet, allowing Him to minister His love and encouragement.
What a timely word that was from her.
