I thought I'd share a bit about my pets. ;D
Ok first, I will say that our house is situated so that it is easy for people to dump off their unwanted cats into our yard. They stay for a while, we feed and love them and then they move on. It's always been that way.
Now we have 2 cats of our own. Sisters, calicoes. One of them is not 100% there with her brain. The other has had 2 litters already and they are not even 2 years old yet. The mildly retarded one, is not interested in mating. I have seen males mating with her but she does not get pregnant, I have also seen her teasing males but when they come close she fights them off. Our normal brained cat Snooky, had kittens on this past Easter day. We gave all but 2 away. All the "cute" ones were taken in a hurry which left us with a black one and a tiger. No one thought they were cute enough. No one wanted the black one cause they were thinking "bad luck". So we kept them. My daughters named him Blackie. We call the tiger Chupa for some reason. Like the suckers chupa chups. Pronounce Choopa.
These 2 babies are big now, almost the same size as their mother who will now have nothing to do with them. Here is the strange part, their "aunt", the one with the retardation will hiss and growl at them but when she is sleeping on the bed she will allow them to suckle on her. Now she is not giving out any milk obviously but she cleans them as though they are her own and lets them suckle and I can hear her purring and the 3 of them purring together is really loud. But after she is waken up and doing her usual cat thing, she will hiss, hit, and growl at them as though they are complete strangers. Their mother will swat them when they go near her.
