In response to the post from Braided-Rug about my Kelpie, here's a brief Bio on him. Mick came to us from a friend who had several and used them at work. We had Mick for about 7 years when he came down with Heartworms. He would be enjoying his day rounding up critters and then had a seizure. We had him treated at the vet, but was told it would be hard for him to recover, but he did a pretty good job of it. Last summer, I let him out of his kennel for our morning romp and he seized again, but longer and harder. He did this a few more times over the course of a week and DH had to put him down. I called him Mick the Wonder Kelpie because he would bolt out of his kennel and while still running forward, turn his head and half his front shoulders backwards to see me as if to say, 'I wonder what we're doing today?" His tail would act like this massive rudder and spin him around as he ran! It was so funny! So I always said he was wonderin' what was going on. He was a sweet boy, LOVED to be loved, thought himself as a lapdog and just loved everybody he met.

Happyathome, I am so glad you posted about your dog. I had no idea what happened symptom wise with heartworms. It is so hard to lose a loved pet.
My brother had a brown dog, I think it was a kelpie and it lead my horse. This is shortly before we left the farm when we were pre and early teens. So I only had that type of dog as a puppy.
