I know they like shade. and that they are an anual (wish they weren't) But other than that how do I care for them?
I'd like to put them in hanging baskets, but will they survive baskets with coconut (straw like) linings?

Ellise,
Impatiens love lots of shade and lots of water. Other than that they aren't fussy. And yes they will grow in a hanging basket lined with moss or straw, just be sure to keep check on them in the heat to give them lots to drink. If you leave them, they will self seed. But only during the annual growing season.

Great. Thanks Car. even though I only paid .25¢ ea for them (2), I'd hate to have them die on me ;D

I am pretty sure I have had them in hanging baskets before.

Impatiens are one of my favorite annuals. I wish we had shade in our yard, but we live in a relatively new subdivision with very few trees.

Our shade problem we fixed a little with buddlieas as they grow so fast in one year.
They are not actually trees but do a great job.
