There's a very cute, inexpensive, little greenhouse in a catalogue that came today. (yes, I should have a "no junk mail" sticker but think what I might miss out on!!) It's basically a frame in the shape of a little shed/house with clear plastic over it. Because our backyard faces south (north to you lot over on the other side of the world) it's rather dark in spots. There's also a problem in that we have a Jack Russell that eats anything. We also have possums in this area, and they eat everything in sight.
So I thought gee, I could grow tomatoes and lettuce and such in the little greenhouse/hothouse and the plants would be safe.
Would that actually be the case? Or would I end up with not just chewed plants, but a chewed greenhouse?

I don't know, but the idea sounds good. Our dog eats carrots and tomatoes. Do you plant them in the ground with the house around?

Nope, they're in pots on shelves. I think I need to do some more investigating.

Container gardening seems very popular.

DH is getting really interested in watching Hugh's polytunnel on River Cottage. It comes on at 8pm on Austar, the food channel these days. I think last night he was talking about the lettuces grown in English winter. But he wasn't sure he heard it right.
