We're thinking about going over 4th of July weekend. Looking for recommendations of places to stay and things to do. I know Dave and I could find lots to do if we were on our own, but we're bringing the kids with us too. ;D TIA

I have only been to Burlington once and that was over 20 years ago. As I remember it, not much for kids to do. Here is a list of events www.vermont.org/visiting/events_index.htmlHave you ever been to Six Flags? There is one in Springfield, MA and another in Lake George, NY (about 100 miles from Burlington), both have a free water park with the purchase of theme park tickets. www.sixflags.com/pick_a_park1.asp I know there are lots of deals out there for tickets too.

Thanks. I will have to take a look at Six Flags again--none of us, not even the kids are big on amusement parks, and Dave has his heart set on going to some orchid place in Burlington. The kids have expressed an interest in them too, so that's made him even more interested in going. As long as we stay somewhere with an inground pool, we'll be fine. I just want to get far, far away from my inlaws and all the stress at home

You'll have fun in Burlington, its a fun place to visit. I bet they'll have some fun 4th of July events planned~~it'll be great. The Vermon Teddy Bear Company is in that area too, tours and make your own bears. Also the Ben & Jerry's factory is in the area (that was the best part of my vacation last year!!!). BTW--Six Flags is about 35 minutes from me

My husband really wanted to go to Vermont one weekend he was in Poughkeepsie NY. His friend asked him to go to NYC instead, which is good too.
It was autumn so it would have been nice. NY was quite hot, so I can understand how Deed has been hot in her sewing room. Do you have cooler weather there Deed?
I can't get a handle on where Michelle lives oh, is MA massachusetts, I kept thinking Mississippi!
Will have to check my Walmart book. A nice old state though I know that.
I am thinking for Vermont maple syrup and apples. 4th of July would be great there.
We had an American visit us, will have to ask dh again who was interested in orchids and went to one of our hometown's orchid meetings. I have just been given some cymbidiums.

LOL yeah, I'm in Mass. 35 miles NW of Boston I should have taken a picture of the project Kathryn finished for school just yesterday. It was all about Massachusetts. We had tons of interesting facts, places, and people on there. I actually learned some things while I was helping her.

I loved reading the children's books about Laura Ingalls Wilder's Grandma I think it is, it was set in Boston by Maria D. Wilkes or Melissa Wiley.
So you are near the sea?

Oh YES Linda it is quite a bit cooler now. LOL About a week and a half ago we were at 92 degrees (33.3C) and it was BEASTLY!!! Then the bottom fell out of the thermometer and last night and once today we have had the heat on it was so cold in the house! When I got up this morning it was 40 degrees (4.4C) with a 20 mph wind, so it really felt like it was about 30F (1.1C) out! This weather is downright crazy! It is the middle of June for goodness sakes! We should be in the high 60's to low 70's (15.5C-21C) right now but we went from the blazing heat of summer to colder than fall! Sure hope it warms up some for this coming weekend when I have my yard sale. LOL
