Hi Everyone! A three day trip to Los Angeles turned into an 11 day vacation!! Just got back on Tues. night. Frank and I originally went down for an awards ceremony for my son to receive the California State Firemans Association Medal of Valor. It was great and I'm waiting for the pics. to come back...........then we extended our trip so Frank could get a very special coin checked out at one of the two places in the country that do that kind of grading. Well, we had to wait and wait and it finally came back as having been tampered with and so it was not original after all...... Had it not been tampered with it would bring in well over $100,000.00.........you win some and you lose some I guess. We had a great time in the mean time like going over to Catalina Island on the boat for the day! I loved it and stayed outdoors all the way over as we bounced over the waves!! I used to live in southhern California and so I miss the ocean. No ocean waves up here in the mountains! Anyway.......now I plan to be on here a little more before I take off for another week during Thanksgiving. So much to catch up on here and see what everyone is doing!! later......... phyllis

Your trip sounds great Phyllis, and your son must be a very special man to receive an award like that.

Thank you............all of you! It is good to be back and get to the work that piled up and all the need-to's! It was an experience I won't forget and yes I am very proud of my son for risking his own life to save the lives of many. It just blew me away to hear them tell the story of what happened whilehe was standing up on the stage that afternoon. I just received my copy of a video of it so that I can pass it down to my grandchildren. Arn't video's great for preserving the past? I just wish they had them when I was young so I could see and hear from relatives that I never got to know. Well, better late than never, right? Now, I need to get to scrapbooking the event.........fun,fun,fun!! No one does this in the family but me so.........I guess I am the official documentarian!! One day, they will all be glad I took the time to do this and that is fine with me. I even have a personal journal all about my life and in it I write to my great, and great-great grandchildren! I will never know them in person but, I just wanted them to know that I am thinking of them and want them to know me. Won't they be surprised someday when they read that??? Family history is wonderful and fun and exciting sometimes......like when I was a child and found out that my grandma's brother (up in Canada) was thrown out of the family for doing something "disgraceful" (wonder what it was???) and came down here and then into Mexico and rode with Poncho Villa and his band of raiders!!! I thought that was just too cool...........but, I was quickly told never to bring it up to my very, very old grandmother as she would be Devitated that the "family name" would be ruined!! Saving face was everything in her day but, my day was different and I told all my friends at school and they were greatly impressed!! Sorry grandma.........but, it goes in the journal along with everything else!! So.........thank you all for the kinds words and have a wonderful day wherever you are!!
