My dh can do most anything set before him. I feel so fortunate and blessed that for the most part during our 38 plus years of marriage when something breaks he can fix it.
I don't know that we have ever had to hire anyone to fix things for us. If dh had never done a particular fix, he would attempt it until he figured it out.
I remember once, in the early years of our marriage, we had an old clunker car that was standard shift. It was on the column and went out. Dh converted it to stick shift on the floor. I was so proud of him
Do you hire things done or doesn your dh do most of your fix-it jobs.

Don does almost everything around here as far as fix it goes. I have only had to call a repair man once and that was because Don was out of town and we had no AC!

Car, have you ever had the column shift stick? When I got my first car, someone told me how to move it from under the bonnet.
My dh can figure out all sorts of things. His Dad is the same. The most recent thing that was a big help, was that the oven door wouldn't stay closed. Keep in mind we are in a new/old house. So he went to the tip/dump and got one the same and the door is really great now. It was terrible going a week with a chair keeping the door closed.

No, don't think I ever had that happen. We mostly drive automatics now. Just easier. Although love driving stick shift and having to shift. But driving in the city it is just easier to drive an automatic where you don't have to sit with your foot on the clutch and keep shifting..

Another Mr. Fix It here too! Although when our well or furnace needs servicing we do call a pro, but other than that Jack tackles just about anything around here. What he doesn't know and I won't ever tell him, is I can fix most anything too. Comes from many many years of being my Dad's gopher when he was doing things around the house. Might take me a bit longer, but I know how to do lots of things. ROFL

Alister's a fixer on most things, but calls a pro for some things. I think he knows his limits!
