Karen,
Denise is on vacation for another 2 weeks or so. I'm sure she will check in when she gets back.
I haven't heard of it, another strain we have to watch out for?

It sounds like the US is trying to prepare for an outbreak and they expect a high number of deaths and hospitalizations. Thats what the media says. I was wondering what they were telling hospital staff.

Am I to assume that *avian* as in bird? I knew a lady here that caught some virus from bird droppings. It was very serious. ?? wonder if it is along those lines..

Yeah, it must be the bird flu that is going on in Asia. I'm just curious what they've told Denise, being an ED nurse. You know how the media does things....

They really aren't getting too concerned at this point, where I work. We are told to question any one with flu-like symptoms, about their travel history. We are told to be extra careful with hand washing, and to place any one with severe symptoms in resp. isolation.
Those are pretty standard things, nothing alarming yet.
