I have been thinking very seriously about trying the Specific Carbohydrate Diet since I seem to have other problems besides gluten. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this diet, knows someone it has helped, maybe tried it yourself? I've ordered the book by Elaine Gottschall but haven't received it yet so I've been surfing the web looking for info, but I was really hoping someone here might have some first hand knowledge of it. Thanks!

I haven't tried it Dana, but it sure sounds like it might be very helpful even to diabetics. I hope someone here knows about it and can help you. Let me know what you find out.

Hmm, Carolyn, I hadn't thought about it being good for diabetics but I guess it would be since it doesn't allow grains, sugar or potatoes. I guess you'd just have to watch the honey and fruit closely. I'll let you know if I decide to do this. I'm hoping the book will come soon. Being gluten-free hasn't fixed all my problems and I know I'm having trouble with some of the foods that are eliminated on SCD so I am very interested in this. I've found a few websites about SCD, let me know if you want them.

Dana,
Yes, I don't eat refined sugar at all. And honey while I love it is very limited. And of course starches...they turn into sugar in the body. Sometimes I wonder what I CAN eat. I am sure you can relate to that. How are you diong on your dieting.
