I got my new crown-- also was told I had a suspicious place on the ower gum line (for those who don't know, or don't remember- I've had cancer in my mouth multiple times in the distant past--- when I was a child, up to age 19). . . .
So -- I got back on March 27 to determine how in depth my surgery will be. . . . I know that I'll have to have skin flaps, etc. Just hoping I won't have to have bone implants as well.
*sigh* It's always something.

My sister and I both had the same cancer-- she had one round-- I had 6 rounds. My mom also had uterine cancer at the same time. They think it was something my mom was exposed to around the time she was pregnant with us. My sister had one surgery-- no recurrence. I had surgery, over and over again-- chemo. . . . .more surgery-- finally cured at age 19. Whew. Mom had surgery for her cancer, one recurrence- none since. I have no idea how my parents coped. . . from my perspective-- I knew I had "cancer" but I didn't really understand what that meant at the time. My parents never coddled me or my sister, treated us just like they would have if we were well. . . except on the surgery days. Then we were spoiled rotten My parents never discussed the possiblity of us dying-- so I guess I never considered it. Even at age 19, when I was in nurses training and knew more. . . I never considered the possibility of dying from it. Now, however-------

Denise, I admire your parents. It must have been very difficult and scary for them, knowing they could lose you and still raise you as ordinary healthy kids. I'm sure this has made you stronger and the same for your parents.
Know, that I will keep you in my prayers. ((hugs))

Are you saying that the dentist found a place that needs to be investigated in surgery?
I think he/she is such a wonderful dentist.
