Just wondering how many of us suffer from these?
Also are yours really "flashes" or do they last longer than a moment or two?

I beleive I am very fortunate. I am 42 and am quite well where hormones go. I am wondering why that is.

Hot flashes that last for hours! I walk around at work with ice bags on my neck. . . freeze dh during the night (states our bedroom is cold enough for meat storage), etc.
I think I'm on the downhill side now-- they are coming less frequently and with less intensity now.

Linda, you are sure a lucky one! Oh Denise, I can so relate! Mine are from a combination of having a partial hysterectomy done in 2001 (still have one ovary) and with my cancer drug that blocks estrogen. Last blood test I had done about 6 weeks ago now says I am post menopausal instead of peri-menopausal. I mean I LOVE not having a period anymore but these so called flashes are the pits! Mine don't last for hours anymore, but do last for up to 20 minutes or so at a time and are so severe they just drain the energy right out of me! Mine are also full body ones, head to toes! I just read up some more on my new med and hot flashes tonight and it recommends exercise to help alleviate them, so looks like I start exercising again. Anything to help with these things! We have had the heat at 63º all winter and I'm suffering while Jack is bundled up for the Yukon!

I don't know if I have hot flashes, but I can tell you that I get suddenly very hot sometimes. I'm not sure if that's it, but I've had these for mnay years now.

I suppose this is a topic that will interest me very soon as I'm 47. The thought of menopause is both liberating and sad, after all it means heading to the wrong end of life.

Well I have an appointment with a new doctor (a lady this time WooHoo!) the end of next week. I sure hope she can help me with these as I am now dreading the summer heat. Ugh...
