Do you use essential oils? If so which ones and why?
This is one area that I'm beginning to learn a bit more on and the more I learn the more I want to know.
I use several but will give you folks a chance to chime in before I post my list.
So tell me about your experiences with oils whether it be medicinal or just for smell.

I love tea tree oil, both for medicinal purposes and also for cleaning. My next favourite of course is lavender which is as far as I know will help with sleep, relaxing and I love to put it in my mop water. That's about it for me Pat but I can't wait to hear about what you have learned..

I use both tea tree oil and lavender often, very often.
Tea tree oil has wonderful antiseptic properties. Right now I'm using it to ward off sinus/allergy trouble. Mind you this doesn't sound good but it works wonderfully. Moisten a cotton swap with tea tree oil and gently coat the inside of each nostril before going to bed. The sting only lasts a minute and just make sure you don't shove that cotton swap in too far. You can also do this during the day as long as you are in a situation where the smell isn't bothersome. I put tea tree oil on every cut or scrap that I get right away. Often I just do it one time and then forget about the hurt only to find that it's healed within a day or so. Tea tree oil applied to any area that may be a fungal infection such as on the feet or around the nail bed is helpful. If you are having a rough time of sickness in your house, it's great to add tea tree oil to your cleaning solutions and disinfect your home.
As for lavender, love it. I make lavender neck pillows to sell and as gifts. You heat them in the microwave or chill them in the freezer and apply to your aches. They are devine for easing a headache. Lavender can be used for relief from inflammation as well. Lavender is safe to apply directly to the skin but I never recommend applying any oil to the delicate skin areas. It is of course the great oil for insomnia. A spray of lavender oil and water misted onto your bed can help induce rest. Lavender candles bring stress relief to the area they are burned it. Lavender can be applied directly to the skin, can be applied to cuts, scrapes, can be massaged into sore muscles, applied to the neck or temple area to relieve migraines and it makes your home smell so wonderful. I do not recommend using this while driving though as it does have relaxation properties.
No home should be without these two oils as they are so useful and are some of the safest oils there are.
As with anything new, always apply to a small test area first. With essential oils a little goes a long way. Be sure of where you get your oils, in this case, cheaper is usually inferior quality.

The Three G Essential Oils - There are three essential oils that I like to use and it just happens that they all start with the letter G (maybe that means they are "Good"). If I mentioned Ginger, Grapefruit and Geranium, I'm sure you are all familar with them but I'm betting that you might not know of their essential oil uses.
Ginger oil is used to help alleviate muscular aches and pains, sprains, colds, nausea and digestive disorders. Just like eating ginger or drinking ginger tea will help soothe an upset stomach, rubbing ginger essential oil onto the skin helps too.
Grapefruits are wonderful to eat and very healthy and their essential oil is also. When I think of grapefruits I think of the clean smell. One of the ways the oil works in on kidney and liver disorders. It also helps during drug withdrawals. It's cleansing properties goes beyond the smell and into the body when applied to the skin.
Geranium is my other G oil. This does come from a geranium plant but not the big ones that we are most familiar with. Geranium oil helps with depression, nervous tension, sores, circulatory conditions and with menstrual problems.
I am currently using these three oils on myself. I apply them at night to my stomach area and gently massage them in. Just a tiny drop of each. I'm finding that they are helping to relieve my stomach problems and are helping to get my body back into the routine of ridding itself of waste. I do not wash my hands after I apply the oils so that I am also able to breathe in the smells as I sleep. Needless to say, I sleep alone.
As with any attempted remedy whether it be natural or from the doctor, proceed with caution. Do your research and ask your health care practitioner if you have any doubts as the safety of the product. Do not apply or ingest anything without first making sure of it's safety and the proper way to use it.

I am able to get mine locally at our health food store. There are many online retailers but I since I haven't ordered from them, I can't make a recommendation. If you have a health food store that you order from, they should have these oils as they are common.

I'd like to try those 3 G's as well--I've had bad stomach issues for the past 12 or so years.

Do you think it would respond to yoghurt and good bacteria or have you tried that one already?
