Our temps have been 99 degress this afternoon, with heat index of 105. It's predicted to get worse by the weekend.
We've had ver ylittle rain since April. . . . hitting drought levels now and water restrictions.
The hospital where I work has opened up the cafeteria for a cooling center 24/7. The other hospital in town opened up a section in the afternoons and evenings during the week (no early day or weekend times)
Our church has opened up the basement (kitchen/bathrooms etc) for a cooling center. It's w/c accessible too. Our preacher is new to the area, and wasn't quite prepared the extent of the poverty in our area. He found out how many in the area have no AC, no fans, no electricity! So, he recommended they open the basement, and the church board agreed. I'll be taking Kool-Aid, tea, and board games in there tomorrow. Maybe some chips and rice crispy treats if I get ambitious.

We are feeling the heat here as well, yesterday's temp was 101°F and our heat index was 112°F. Talk about melting! I made Daniel stay indoors and wouldn't let hin go down to the weight room and lift, too scared he'd have heat stroke!

It's hot here too, and very humid. The windows on my house fogged up yesterday! On the outside!

It's more acceptable here today. Denise, that's so nice of your pastor to open up the church like that. And I think you are just the most generous person I know!

Miserably hot here as well. Tomorow Ryan and I are going with the Girl Scouts to a water park in NC. Bet I stay in the pool the whole time. No walking around or laying out for me.

Well ladies........... I'm just about cooked to the bone out here on the west coast too! Certainly more heat than I need, or want! I'm in my damp bathing suit as I type, really helps keep my body temp. down. I put a a 8ft across little pool out on the covered deck and every now and then I jump in and then towel off..........then it's on to the next chore! Phyllis
