Yesterday I had a fruit salad made with melons. Yum. The watermelon was the sweetest I have ever bought here in KY. The cantaloupe was just as sweet and the honeydew was pretty good.
I think one of the things that makes me smile in summer is all the fresh melons to choose from.
Peaches, nectarines and plums coming up next~
What is your favourite summertime food.

Blueberries! I actually look for the Michigan ones here. We get them occaisionally, and they are expensive, but I treat myself at least once per summer. Nothing like good ole' Mi berries.

Nothing like good ole' MI anything Tam...You know, peanut butter donuts, a trip to the cider mill, Red Knapps, ahhhhh now I have to go cry.. :-(

We have several Fresh Fruit markets in our area, and we try to visit them often!! LOL.
So far this year I have gotten fresh:
Bluberries
strwaberries
peaches
cantalope
honeydews
grapes
necterines
plums
raspberries
and today Don stopped and got
Cherries, tomaotes, and Oranges.
Can't wait till the Apples & pumpkins come in!

Peanut butter donuts? never heard of them but sound yummy....
I've only bought strawberries,cantalope,tomatoes,and plums.
Most everything is expensive in the store and we dont have a local farmers market. There's a few road side stands and thats where I got the cantalope,tomatoes, and plums.

Tammy, If you ever go towards Gadsen (sp) or Jacksonville, there are a lot of nice fruit stands. Well they were there when we lived in Al. The ones inf J'ville are just past the University, forgot what that next town is called. I'm taking you from I 20 going through Anniston, Ft McClellan etc... If you go don't forget to stop by Big Apple Bagels and get some bagels they are to die for ;D

Oh Tammy, yes peanut butter donuts..Just scrumptious....The base of the donut is like a cinnamon donut...you know the donut with the cinnamon spread throughout...and then the most delish peanut butter icing slathered all over the top..Yum yum..
