Today dh took some photos of a place we like visiting because it is cooler there and more lush. To us it looks a little messy with blackberries coming up everywhere. I may post the pic because it may be interesting. Here is a little information about blackberries. www.texascooking.com/features/texasblackberries.htm

We love Blackberry Cobbler....yum. Enjoyed the photo, BR. Thanks.

BR, wow awesome links. I love berries and that parfait on the first page just caught my eye. Are you growing berries in your yard?

Actually went I think about it, there are some blackberries in our yard, but not by choice. They are growing in some soil that the previous owners brought from the creek or river, some silt we call it to plant their best plants in, the Japanese maples etc. We are going to remove them as they are weeds were we are. We did plan to go to the creek to pick some, we may have just missed it by a couple of weeks, will ask DH, ie Stephen. Have been a little distracted.

What do you have to be careful of Lynn, are they covering the field? They would make a good mess of your legs? Unfortunately we have to be careful of snakes, but I am prepared to try again to get into the swing of blackberry picking. We did pick a few when we were renting in 2003, they grew around the yard, eventually dh got them back into control, they take over. I didn't remember how nice a fresh blackberry from the bush was. Blackberry is my favourite jam. I would love to buy the farm for sale over the road from these blackberries.

Well we went to check on the blackberries and we are not too late. We saw some just on the town limits, a dangerous corner though we we think if dh goes by himself and parks off road he could pick them.
Further out we went into the bush and they were dried on the bush which sometimes happens in the hot weather. It was getting dark by then and we didn't want to tread on anything unpleasant.
We also saw some wallabies and a couple of kangaroos feeding in the paddock. DD4 didn't want to go home.

They look so yummy! We have to be careful of snakes. They seem to enjoy the berries as much as we do. And of course, we have to tromp wayyyyyyyyyy across the field to get them.

I was really proud of dd. She so wanted to get some today and waded across the creek to get these, although she couldn't pick up very high.

Yum, look delish. Like Lynn we have to de-snake as we pick, but here we have tons of raspberries and blackberries just growing wild on the hillsides. Other than snakes we have to get there before the birdies do. LOL
Sounds fun br. Glad you had a good wade in the creek

I am betting this year I will have another bumper crop of blackberries in my yard. Last year they were just awful but I still have some from the year before in the freezer. LOL You are right, they can take over!
